KIA Monument Being Relocated to Kennett Courthouse Square
This important project will place the monument on the southwest corner of the courthouse grounds, where it will be set on a newly constructed foundation. The monument is also being reworked with a new topper as part of the relocation effort.
Originally dedicated to honor local service members who were Killed in Action, the monument will now serve as a tribute to all Kennett residents who gave their lives during armed conflicts while serving our nation.
Moving the monument to the courthouse square will place it in a more visible and central location where residents and visitors alike can reflect on the sacrifices made by members of our community.
Photos taken this week show the careful removal of the monument from its longtime location at American Legion Post 66 as preparations continue for its new installation downtown.
Additional updates will be shared as the project progresses and the monument is installed at its new home.
